Hey Marco and James,
Your science writing assignment will be to answer a research question about light: Why do plants and animals need light to survive? How do we see in the dark ? or any other question you wonder about how light works in our world. Try this link to find a question to use and research: Question Bank: Light and Sight
Light bending or refraction is a good topic, but you need to make it a question. Like: What color reflects off of a black car or a blue jacket? Then research to find the answer to your question.
You will find links to websites with light bending and light and color information and other links here: Science Experiments.
Also, use the Search Engine For Kids link on this blog to do your research.
Look at these sites and read about the experiments. Then you will be doing your own research and using these two worksheets to write down your information: Scientific method worksheet; Report Your Results
On the first worksheet, Scientific Method Worksheet , you will write down one of the 2 questions asked above, then you will do research on that question. Don't worry about the rest of the worksheet, just the first 2 parts for this week. Please have your research question chosen and started researching it before Oct. 9 for James, and Oct. 10 for Marco so we can discuss it in class on those dates.
Here are two links to read about how to use the Scientific Method to answer your research question: ; Biology4kids Science Kids
Remember to do research on your own using Google search, not just using the links I give you here.
If you have questions after reading these links, send me and email and I will try to help you understand the scientific process.
This part is for later, after Oct. 10. After you complete the Scientific method worksheet and finish your experiment, you can make a Smore flyer to show the results of your experiment and how you answered your question.
So, do you think that Mrs. P should do this experiment too?
We will discuss more in class and I will give you a copy of these worksheets.
Mrs. P :)
